Chillicothe Veterinary Clinic offers outstanding surgical care services. We perform thorough pre-surgical screenings that include bloodwork and an examination. The technician also speaks with you regarding patient history and records any concerns or problems regarding your pet's overall health.
We offer pre-surgical bloodwork to check your pet's major organs such as the liver and kidneys. This screening process is highly recommended prior to surgery. Knowing that your pet's bloodwork values are normal helps to ensure that the anesthesia will be processed out of your pet's body correctly as well as checks for any underlying problems.
Prior to surgery, you can rest assured that your pet will receive a thorough examination. Dr. John examines your pet from head to toe and also listens to your pet's heart and lungs.
We use the safest, most effective anesthesia for your pet. The anesthesia is dosed according to the weight and species of your pet. Your pet is constantly monitored during and after the surgical procedure.
For your pet's safety, the doctors and technicians also use monitoring devices during the surgical procedure. Your pet's oxygen level and respirations per minute is monitored through a device inserted into the trachea. The heart rate is monitored through a lingual sensor placed on the tongue and the temperature is monitored by a small rectal device.
If any abnormalities are discovered prior to, during, or after surgery, you will be alerted right away. Our office will also contact you once the surgery is complete and your pet is coming out of anesthesia to update you on your pet's condition/progress.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding a surgical procedure or your pet's general health, please call our office right away. Our staff members will be more than willing to assist you.
